Spring 2009 & the emergence of Drewman

We've had a busy couple of weekends because we are closing on our house in Florida. Dave and my dad (Thanks again, Dad for helping us out!) went to Destin one weekend and packed up the house with our friends, Chris and Sara. My dad, my brother, and Dave unloaded a carload of junk into our storage unit, then Dave and I went back to Destin last weekend for Kendra & Andrew's wedding and to pack the U-haul. Ok, I didn't pack anything. I spent most of the morning talking to our movers, our friends, Chris & Billy. Dave was not amused. We headed back to Atlanta and met our friends, Brian Rawlin, Doug, Brian Burks, and of course, my dad at the storage unit to empty the contents of our house from the moving truck. We would be lost without the help of our amazing friends and family. I also need to thank Felicia, Leah, and Michelle for allowing their men to help us on Mother's Day.

Even though we had to drive back from Destin on Mother's Day, I had a special day with my boys. They got me a beautiful pair of earrings from James Avery, and heart paperweight from Drew's school, and some sweet cards.

Finally, I have to tell the story of the Drewman. A few weeks ago, my mom and I took Drew to the mall. When we were in The Gap, a salesperson asked Drew what is name was. Very matter of factly, he stated that it is "Drewman." I quickly corrected him because you should have seen the look the salesperson gave me, but did she seriously think I named my kid, Drewman?!?!Mom and I got a big laugh out of this and didn't think much of it until Drew started referring to himself in the 3rd person as Drewman. "The dogs have Drewman's golf balls." "That's Drewman's car." I know it's our fault b/c that is what we all call him, but it is too funny. One day this week when I dropped him off at school, his friend, Shaelynn said, "It's Drewman." I think it might stick.

Also, people have been asking how Drew is adjusting to the idea of the new baby. I think right now he is just starting to understand it. He points at my belly and says "My baby." Last week he wanted a girl baby and liked the name CeCe, but today he told me that he wanted a boy. Who knows how this will turn out?!?!

Here's a photo tour through our spring...

Drew's tree - We planted this maple tree when we brought Drew home from the hospital. It was bittersweet to leave that house, but we're ready for a new adventure as we start house-hunting in Atlanta. Say your prayers that jobs remain stable and that we can save, save, save for a down payment. (Thanks again to mom and dad for saying we can stay as long as we need to!)

Drew and his school girlfriend, Sophie, at his school's Easter egg hunt (Is she making a move on my little man?!) - She is the sweetest little girl, and whenever she wakes up from a nap and her mommy asks her who she dreamt about, her answer is always Drew.

Drew & Daddy at PLAY activity center - We went with the Parkers this spring. Is that a serious move or what?!

Drew & Avery Parker - They are great buddies, and Avery told her parents that she wants to marry Drew someday but still live at home. Hey, I'm all for that...
